1926 One-man shows in the galleries Neumann-Nierendorf in Berlin and Thannhauser in Munich, accompanied by a first comprehensive index of prints.

September 1926 Becomes Oskar Kokoschkas successor at the Academy of Art in Dresden.

Spring 1927 Moves to Dresden; apartment at Bayreuther Straße 32, studio at the Art Academy in Brühlsche Terrasse. In summer semester 1927, the successful and influential period of teaching at the Academy of Art begins. Friendship with art collectors Ida and Fritz Bienert, poet Theodor Däubler and the young art historian Fritz Löffler.
